Key Account Manager / Senior Key Account Manager – Eastern US

About Midwestern BioAg

For 40+ years we’ve helped growers win by improving soil—pairing research-backed agronomy with proprietary inputs that move the needle: TerraNu® for nutrient  efficiency and Bio-Gel™ for water-driven performance. We’re scaling beyond the Midwest with a modern, partner-first retail model.

High growth, high earnings. A white-space retail map, autonomy to build your book, and upside tied to results.

General Description:

You’ll open and scale independent ag retailers by leading vendor setups, line reviews, and in-season execution for TerraNu® and Bio-Gel™. You bring the relationships and the playbook; we bring products that move.

Eastern US: IL, IN, OH, MI (ideal home base: IL/IN; flexible for the right network)

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Own a named list of independent retailers/co-ops; open new doors, secure vendor setups, and lead category line reviews.
  • Build and run joint business plans with retailer leadership: forecasts, programs, in-season campaigns, and training cadence.
  • Deliver technical + commercial training to seller-agronomists; equip them to win with TerraNu/Bio-Gel.
  • Execute in-season programs (trials, demo acres, ride-alongs, grower meetings) to drive sell-through.
  • Partner with marketing/agronomy on localized demand generation and proof-of-performance.
  • Maintain a tight pipeline/forecast and communicate risks, wins, and competitor moves.
  • Multi-million-dollar annual sales across 10+ independent retailers.
  • Proven ability to sell ≥$200k to a new retailer in Year 1 (program or multi-SKU placement).
  • Live, recent relationships (last 12–24 months) with decision-makers such as Owner/CEO, VP/Director Procurement, Director of Agronomy, Category/Portfolio Manager, Regional Sales, and Location Managers.
  • History of program-level influence (multi-branch rollouts, seasonal programs, line reviews)—not just one-location wins.
  • Strong agronomy/nutrition acumen; skilled at translating product advantage into retailer margin and grower ROI.
  • CRM discipline and data-driven account planning.
  • Senior KAM bar (toggle as needed): track record opening 15+ retailers, multi-state responsibility, and mentoring peers; trusted by procurement leaders across the region.

Qualifications / Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agri-Business, Agronomy, Business, Marketing, or related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of agricultural sales experience, ideally in wholesale, retail distribution, or channel management.
  • Proven success working with independent and large ag retailers to drive category growth and product adoption.
  • Strong understanding of agronomy, soil health, and plant nutrition principles.
  • Preferred background at distributors or specialty-nutrition brands with independent-retail reach (e.g., Rosen’s, Koch Agronomic Services, BRANDT, AgroLiquid, Verdesian, Timac Agro, Valent BioSciences, Precision Laboratories).
  • Preferred experience scaling value-added fertilizers/bio stimulants/adjuvants through independents.

Competencies

  • Exceptional relationship-building and account management skills with a consultative approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate across multi-level retail organizations.
  • Strategic mindset with experience developing and executing account growth plans.
  • Strong presentation and training skills; comfortable leading technical and commercial discussions.
  • Proficient in CRM platforms and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Analytical capability to interpret sales and market data to guide strategy.
  • Self-driven, results-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

  • Willingness to work extended hours during peak sales & agronomic seasons.
  • Travel: ~50–60% during key seasons, including frequent overnight stays.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
