High-quality alfalfa comes from more than yield alone—it’s about nutrient density, digestibility, and resilient plants. A recent on-farm organic trial in southeastern Minnesota put Bio-Gel® YieldArmor™ to the test, applying it after the first alfalfa cutting. The results point to meaningful improvements in both forage quality and overall plant health.

Nutrient Density Gains The trial showed a 7% increase in crude protein (1.34% uplift) and a 6% boost in total amino acids. Key amino acids improved: lysine (+7%) and methionine (+4%) enhanced growth, milk production, feed efficiency, and immune health. Other essential amino acids—isoleucine (+9%), leucine (+8%), and histidine (+2%)—supported energy, muscle development, and young animal growth.
Micronutrient Improvements Calcium increased by 5%, improving forage structure and palatability. Zinc (+7%) and boron (+2%) rose as well, strengthening plant health and boosting mineral density in the feed.
Lower Salt Load A standout result was reduced sodium (-10%) and chloride (-1%) levels. Lower salt content reduces plant stress and enhances feed palatability—especially valuable in organic systems.
Yield & Digestibility Beyond nutrient quality, Bio-Gel® YieldArmor™ delivered measurable production gains. Dry matter yield increased by 3%, while digestible organic matter improved by 1%, making forage more efficient in the feed bunk.
